The Old Football Cleats Live On

posted on 5 May 2012 in Fashion

Dirty, smelly, ratty-looking. Doesn’t sound like a strong recommendation. But that’s exactly what my favorite shoes are like. They didn’t start out that way. I had to earn each one of those scuffs, each one of those stains, each one of those sweaty, smelly times. They began as my very own high-tech cool looking football cleats. They look simple in comparison to today’s cleats but back then they were top of the line. White, crisp and rarin’ to go. They served me well through football season and I still have a tinge of sentiment each time I put them on. I will always think of them as my “football” cleats even though I haven’t played football in two decades. After football season they became my all-purpose, soccer, softball, Ultimate Frisbee and anything-else-that-involved-running-on-grass shoes. Hours and hours of running, turning, straining, diving, jumping, winning, losing, trying, getting the most out of life. The only other footwear I currently own are my funky wellies which come in handy in more inclement weather. Each one of those experiences left a mark on my shoes. And left a mark on my heart.

Here's How to Economise on Living Expenses

posted on 2 May 2012 in Business and Finance

With the average household debt rising, we need to find ways to economise and avoid problems like having to issue a debt relief order or similar problems. Utility bills can be very expensive and is easy to economise on electricity and gas. There are many household appliances which should not be left on when you are out as they consume a lot of energy. I noticed my utility bill had significantly dropped when I started switching off appliances when on stand by. During the colder months I use gas heating as electric heating can be very expensive. However it is best not to leave it on all day and night as they can be very costly. I econimise on lights and make sure I only have two on at one time. I don't watch a lot of television and don't leave the computer on when not in use. I found it uses a lot of electricity. As well as saving money on electricity I have been able to save a lot of money in relation to clothing. I never buy anything which is full priced as it is possible to save close to 75% on the original price at different stores. Money saved each week should be deposited into a savings account which can't be accessed. In a years time you would have saved a considerable amount of money to use in the future.

On Why and Who I Would Dress Up As for a Fancy Dress Party

posted on 16 April 2012 in Fashion

At a fancy dress up party or event it is important for your fancy dress outfit and character to stand out or easily be identified. Without much of a doubt, I would dress up as the "king of pop" Michael Jackson simply because in my opinion, he is the biggest music star ever. His music especially the thriller album and videos have sold all over the world thus his costume would be unique and could stand out. Not only, am I interested at being noticed at a fancy dress up party or event but also want my costume to be easily identified towards whom I am dressed to be. There are a quite a number of Michael Jackson costumes to choose from but I would go for the Billy jean costume i.e. The jacket, tight jeans, white socks and curly hair wig or mask. I would like the king of pop Michael Jackson to be remembered.

Simple and effective solutions to common internet problems

posted on 16 April 2012 in Internet Related

I have lost track of the many times that I have gone to search for something on the internet only to be met with one block after the other. I thought the internet was free for use and that I could get any information that I wanted but clearly I was mistaken. I have had to get Help With The Internet each time I decide to use it and quite frankly I can take it no more. So I have decided that I will look for the simplest ways of getting past the problems I face on the internet and use them to my benefit. I say this because I have found out that the more complex we make an internet issue to be the harder it gets to solve it. A common problem I face all day is keeping track with the many friends that I have online. Currently I have over 5,000 online friends, some of which I know and others I don't know as well. My simple solution is connecting to Meebo which will monitor activities in all my social network accounts so that I do not forget to reply on messages or wall posts.

The Right Matches With Dallas Fencing Company

posted on 14 April 2012 in Business and Finance

When my parents asked me what I wanted for my thirtieth birthday I told them that nothing would make me happier than if they paid for the fence renovation for my house. I told them that I wanted this fence that was on the www.durafencedesigns.net website. I would love to have paid for it myself but my husband left me with a lot of bills and repairs when he decided to file for divorce and being a single mom has been totally difficult in keeping up with my family’s needs.

My mom came over the next day and asked me to go to www.durafencedesigns.net so that I could show them which of the designs I wanted to use for our backyard. I couldn’t believe it, my parents were actually going to do it! Well I didn’t pretend to be shy about it and just pointed the steel fence build that would look great at the front of our yard.

Seize the Moment By Taking a Picture

posted on 8 April 2012 in Recreation and Hobbies

I've never been a very avid photographer. I'm not one to take pictures of a plate of food, add a vintage effect to it and call it art, I don't believe in that kind of photography, though I did hire a Berkshire baby photographer to take some studio shots of my little baby boy.

I and pretty much everyone else that has gone travelling, have taken plenty of photographs in foreign lands that I’ve visited. I’ve photographed the mountains in Austria, the deserts in Africa, the halls in the Vatican and so on. I believe that some of these photographs came out rather decently, but I don’t ever plan on sharing them. Photographing for me is capturing a memory at a specific point of time. Even though memories fade, You can save a photograph for as long as You live and more. That is why I believe that photography is something much more than taking pictures of Your dinner and proclaiming that it’s art. I believe that photography is about seizing the moment and making memories that last forever.

Talk and Talk with Alicia While Helping Vince in the Kitchen

posted on 7 April 2012 in Uncategorised

I was on the phone talking to Alicia when Vince arrived carrying a huge box from Red Ribbon and several other things, he looked pitiful I had to choice but to take some of the bags from his hands otherwise they would all end up on the floor. He muttered a soft thanks while moving the cake to the kitchen counter. All the while I was talking to Alicia about mundane things just happy to relish the fact that we're talking after 3 months of not communicating (she gets stationed at the remotest area where phone signal is horrible). While I was helping Vince move things around in the kitchen in preparation for his son's birthday I heard Annie in the living room asking to no one in particular about ebay email and how long the response time would be. Alicia must have heard her through the phone as she said it usually takes 48 hours and with that I relayed the answer to Annie shouting in the process to which I got Alicia hissing saying now her ear's ringing.

My Experience on a Motorhome Holiday Was Great

posted on 7 April 2012 in Holiday and Travel

One of the best times in my life was when my family went on a motorhome holiday. We decided to hire a motorhomes, and we went from Arizona to New York and back. It was the summer of 1995 and I was 15 years old, and seeing the States for the first time in really forever. My dad always said that getting on the highway and seeing all the little towns and scenery would give you a new appreciation of America and he was right. The only thing I didn’t like was being cooped up with my brother, but even that was good because the extended time on the RV gave us a chance to really bond and now I look back at that time as being one of the most special and poignant in my life. If you ever get an opportunity to take a motor home holiday, I definitely recommend it because it’ll teach you more than you ever expected.

Is the Alternative Lifestyle Really Alternative Anymore?

posted on 4 April 2012 in Cars and Transport

I think we live in the "post-fashion" era - where populations are no longer controlled by mass media like they were just ten years ago. This is all thanks to the internet, where we can all find our own little niches - our own little tribes if you like. My own little "tribe" love to get on our dirt bikes and rally on dirt tracks. We have our own fashion too - our vibrantly coloured motocross clothing makes us look like colourful artisans performing strange art out there in the countryside.

I think it's a good thing that mass media has lost that "death grip" on the masses - people seem freer and more able to express themselves honestly now, rather than try to fit in to some stereotype that they don't really fit. As they say, we live in a pluralist society where anything goes, and thanks goodness for that.

Some Reasons Why I Do Not Like Banner Ads

posted on 29 March 2012 in Internet Related

When discussing banner ads with anybody, or seeing them on a website, I cringe somewhat. I think banner ads are unnecessary, even though that product or company is funding that website it’s extremely annoying when one seems to come and pop up in your face without you knowing. I also don’t like banner ads because of the flashy images they use or sometimes semi-pornographic images they choose to try and draw you in to their site. It also takes my computer longer to load when a banner image is used, which takes time away from my day to load up an ad I don’t even want to look at! Banner ads manage to be extremely irritating sometimes and totally detract from the website and its content and the cleanness of it and manage to clutter it up with distracting nonsense. I understand that they’re funding the site, but isn’t there another way to use ads besides banner ads in a website?

A Growing Family Needs a Growing House

posted on 27 March 2012 in Home and Garden

On November the 11th, our family grew from four to seven with the addition of three stepsons. We've been looking at home improvement sites like this one to see what we can do to accommodate these 3 extra people to our house. Bedrooms and bathrooms suddenly became a major issue. I would love to add three bedrooms and one more full size bathroom to our house. All three children have different personalities, so individual rooms are a must have, especially if anyone in the house is to be able to sleep at night. The extra bathroom would help with the early morning job and school rush. The bathroom would need to be child friendly, easy to reach cabinets and shelves. The faucets would need to be easy to turn on and off. I would love one of the faucets with the lights. It comes in very handy, in that it shows if the water is cold or hot by the color of the light emitted from the tap as the water flows. I would also like to install motion detected lights, so that if someone gets up in the middle of the night, the light would go on as they entered the bathroom. Also the motion controlled lights would help cut down on the electric bill, by eliminating the lights being left on by children that are forgetful. Finally, I would add a lowered show apparatus that could be attached to the regular shower head, made especially for children to use. I think these home improvements would help keep my happy home a peaceful home.

Finding a Source of Financial Assistance for Art Endeavors

posted on 25 March 2012 in Business and Finance

My daughter already showed fondness to art at the very young age of four. Even as a child, she made it known to the people around her that art is her passion. I personally think that her talent in this field is exceptional. In order to further improve her skills, I bought her everything that has to do with arts. However, when shees about to enter high school, I unexpectedly lost my job, making me incapable to send her to school and buy her all the stuff that she needs for her art activities. Now, I wonder if she can avail of arts grant. I completely have no idea about this government grant, but when I heard about it from a friend, I was thinking that my daughter can apply for it if she wants to. I know my childds cleverness in arts is truly something that has to be cherished for not everybody has it. If I cannot back her up in terms of finances, I might as well find a great source of financial support not to put an end to my daughterrs art endeavours.

Seeking Help from the State to Start Up a Business

posted on 23 March 2012 in Business and Finance

My sister and I were planning to build our own business. We are both having a hard time getting employed and I think it will be better if we just settle on putting up our own business. However, we are afraid that the money we have at the moment is not enough to materialize this plan. Nonetheless, I am still confident that we will be able to find a way to make this happen. I heard that there are grants for government agencies that we can have an easy access to using the internet. There are programs that the state administers for less privilege individuals like us who want to get into the business world. We know that we are not the only people who are aspiring to be given this grant. We must apply for it immediately and make sure that we meet all the requirements. I will start searching for this online and begin preparing the necessary documents. I wish and pray that the state will give us a chance to employ the business scheme that we have in mind at the moment.

Change Is Coming, How Ready Are We?

posted on 23 March 2012 in Arts and Entertainment

I think there is an epidemic in the office. Half of my team had caught fever, cough and colds in a span of 3 weeks. This is hurting the lost hours of my team. But then I couldn't do anything about it other than let my team rest. The service masters should really clean and sanitize the work stations for it is not just hurting my team but the whole department. One of my friends, who happened to be a Bebo contact told me to give them Vitamin C. I wouldn't mind doing that but then that will just be a quick fix for the cause has not been identified. Having half of the team in a span of 3 weeks is really alarming. We did not have this before. If someone gets sick it will only be one or two in a month. But having 5 agents in a span of 3 weeks, we will really need to look into it. I am really worried for changes will be happening soon and I am not really sure how the team feels about it. If they're ready for it or not.

Despite the Pun, Home Is Where The Hearth Is

posted on 22 March 2012 in Construction and Industrial

Like many people, I live in a family home built in the mid 1970s. I was drawn toward the larger bedrooms and lot sizes of a lived in home in comparison to the newer homes. Although there are benefits to living in an older home, there are certain drawbacks as well. I find the older homes to be a bit drab and dreary in colors and brickwork. My home is no exception. Paint colors are an easy fix but brickwork is a bit of a different story. I know a fair bit of DIY - I know my hammer fixings from my coach screws, so feel I can do something to improve this house. I have a large fireplace in my lower level family room that is a dark chocolate brown color and and has been fitted with a bright brass gas fire place insert. It screams renovation 1989 at me every time I enter the room. I have been wondering what to do to solve this since I first saw it. I decided to paint the brick a white color, pull out the insert, and revert it back to a natural fireplace. Around the edging, we put a nice flag stone type border. It is amazing what a difference this made for not a lot of money. The fireplace is the true heart of the home and is an amazing focal piece that should be seen and not hidden.

What You Should Before Buying Pet Insurance

posted on 14 March 2012 in Uncategorised

Pet Insurance is an important aspect to assure the health of your cat or dog and to maintain the financial stability of their humans. When looking to purchase pet insurance for your best friend make sure that you get the answer to five key questions. These questions will determine whether or not the insurance policy you are considering will work for you and safeguard the health of your pet.

The first question entails whether or not you will be able to keep using the same veterinarian as you presently have. If the company requires you to change vets, it may not be worth your while. Like a child with the people in their lives, pets are usually most comfortable seeing the same veterinarian for the course of their lives. A change in veterinarian may cause the animal distress and mental anguish.

Secondly one should inquire as to whether or not the company they are considering can be trusted. Many insurance companies are not run by individuals that are in the field they are offering coverage for. Many pet insurance companies are run by veterinarians and medical professionals. Make sure you feel comfortable with the company you choose to cover the health needs of your pet.

One should also inquire as to whether or not the policy is easy to understand and straightforward. waiting until you need emergency care for your pet is the wrong time to ask if the policy covers it and how much out of pocket expense needs to be covered. One should also make sure that they fully understand claim policies, how they are handled and how reimbursement is offered to the individual. If you do not know how the company will pay for your pet's care ask and make sure you fully understand it before you need the coverage.

Finally the individual should be fully aware of and understand how the premiums for their pet's policy are determined. If making claims raises the premium then maybe this is not the policy for you. A full understanding of the pet insurance policy before you commit to it is the best policy for the company, the premium holder, and the pet.

Polka Dots and Dark Cotton Fabric Make for a Nice Bag

posted on 24 February 2012 in Fashion

I chose this clutch bag because of its shape and color. The fabric appears to be black cotton with white polka dots and the bag is shaped somewhat like a triangle. It reminded me of a dress my mother used to wear when she was younger as well as some of the fashion styles from the fifties. When I bought the bag I could have sworn that the fabric was navy or dark blue with polka dots, but closer inspection has revealed that it is actually black. It’s a pity, because I think the dark blue would be more stylish. The front of the bag has been sewn to make it look as if there is a belt woven into the darts, but these are aesthetic only and serve no other function. On top of the belt, is a silver colored plastic apple accessory. I plan to try to color it somehow, before it loses its gilt. This is not a heavy duty bag, so I wouldn’t use it to go shopping, but it serves well as a nice accessory to a dress or to a particular mood. When I’m feeling happy or light, I take this bag with me.

UNEXPECTED ACCIDENTS AT WORK

posted on 24 February 2012 in Uncategorised

Unexpected accidents at work
If you are a construction worker, a worker involved with contracting, or even a worker that is involved on roadways, buildings, etc., you may be liable for unexpected accidents at work. Unexpected accidents at work may leave you eligible for worker's compensation and/or unemployment for your injury. If you are injured at your workplace, there are many opportunities that will allow you to earn money for your loss. If you are expected to get major surgery, or if you are sent to the emergency room, your work and/or insurance will fund your medical bills and allow you to return to work at the date that your doctor allows you.

Most of the time, you will get a good enough recovery time in order to be back on your feet before you are actually scheduled to attend work. This will allow you to get your thoughts and work organized in order to return to work in a good state of mind, with a positive attitude. Construction workers and contractors are more than likely to be hurt during their day of work, eventually. If you would like to learn about worker's compensation, you may visit your companies policies and discover the ways to suit your needs if you are injured on the job.

Accidents at work are typically unexpected and are most of the time, unavoidable. If you are willing to work with your companies policies, you will be satisfied with either workman's compensation or a comfortable situation that will allow you to go forth with your duties as an employee. If your accident puts you in the emergency room, there will be a policy for that as well. In your employee handbook should be a list of accidents that you will be liable to receive compensation for. Before you begin working for your company, you will also be asked to sign a document that allows your company to let you receive worker's compensation, and it will typically outline what will happen in the event of an accident at work.
